PROJECT YOUTH DOC 2008

Since summer 2004, teens have gathered at the Hollywood Theatre to learn documentary filmmaking during a four-week, intensive course taught by professional filmmakers. Now two sessions are being offered at the Hollywood Theatre – one for the general public and one for youth enrolled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. A third session is being offered to New Columbia residents in North Portland.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! The 2008 Docupalooza screening of all the new PYD projects will occur at 7:00pm on Friday, August 22nd at the Hollywood Theatre. Admission is $5 per person. All proceeds benefit the following year’s program.

AUSTIN MILLER SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Austin Miller was a talented and creative young man who attended the 2006 Project Youth Doc program, which served as part of his inspiration to become a filmmaker. On February 11, 2008 15-year-old Austin was killed while riding his bicycle home from high school in Beaverton. In memory of Austin and his inimitable spirit, Film Action has established the Austin Miller Scholarship Fund to support other youth attending Film Action's educational programs.
